The city of Johnstown is home to high-performing schools and safe, affordable neighborhoods that make working, living and raising a family in west central Pennsylvania special. The region is alive with music and the performing arts including the Johnstown Symphony and the Johnstown Concert Ballet. Opportunities for educational advancement are prevalent including the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, Saint Francis University, Mount Aloysius College, and Pennsylvania Highlands Community College. Previously an industrial community, Johnstown was known for 'modernized steel production' producing of millions of tons of steel for railroads, warships, bridges, and common nails. Many of the steel industry's greatest advances were forged in Johnstown, including the Bessemer process and the three-high rolling mill. Johnstown gained national attention in May 1889 when the South Fork dam broke causing a devastating flood that took 2,209 lives. In years following the flood, immigrants still arriving in Johnstown brought customs, religions, and cuisines of their homelands, all of which contributed to the now heritage-rich character of the city.   

Hiking, biking, and running trails through woods and across streams are prevalent in Johnstown, PA. Four-season recreation is prevalent including winter activities at some of the most acclaimed resorts on the East Coast, and summer fun throughout the community including heritage and craft festivals, and attractions like nearby Idlewild Park & SoakZone, voted Best Children's Park. Johnstown is home to the All-American Amateur Baseball Association Tournament held each summer, the Johnstown Tomahawks - a member of the North American Hockey League, the World's Steepest Vehicular Inclined Plane, and interactive museums that celebrate the area's heritage. Johnstown was named the first-ever Kraft Hockeyville USA in 2015.

Conemaugh Meyersdale Medical Center

Meyersdale, Pennsylvania

Meyersdale offers safe neighborhoods and historic buildings that maintain and promote the area's heritage. Meyersdale is noted for its rich maple syrup production and home to the annual Pennsylvania Maple Festival. A large Amish community and historic churches make this town unique while emphasizing the importance of community and family. Beauteous mountains allow for the creation of electricity through large wind turbines. Area attractions include Mt. Davis, the highest point in Pennsylvania, High Point Lake, Flight 93 Memorial, Quecreek Mine, where the "Nine for Nine" coal miners were rescued, and Fallingwater, a special house built over a waterfall by America's most famous architect, Frank Lloyd Wright.

Meyersdale is home to the Allegheny Highlands Trail, a 50-mile hiking and biking trail that draws visitors from across the country and throughout the world to take in the scenic vistas offered by the former Western Maryland Railway. The railroad located east and west of the town were utilized to ship coal from the nearby Shaw Mines, which is still mined today. Four-season recreation is plentiful with outdoor opportunities include whitewater rafting, boating, trout fishing, skiing and hunting, and ski resorts including Seven Springs and Hidden Valley. Festivals and community gatherings, such as the Somerset County Fair, bring residents and visitors together throughout the year.

Conemaugh Miners Medical Center

Hastings, Pennsylvania

Conemaugh Miners Medical Center serves residents of a number of small communities in the Allegheny Mountain Range. Opportunities for educational advancement are prevalent including the Saint Francis University, Mount Aloysius College, Penn State Altoona and the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. Local residents take pride in the community and support local youth sports programs including soccer, hockey and football.

Prince Gallitzen State Park, Seven Springs, Blue Knob and Hidden Valley resorts offer a variety of four-season recreation opportunities including hiking, biking, boating, fishing, hiking, camping, golf, skiing and snow tubing. Seldom Seen Mine allows visitors to experience what it would be like to work in a coal mine. Altoona's Horseshoe Curve is another local attraction visited by thousands each year.

Conemaugh Nason Medical Center

Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania

The Morrisons Cove Community is rich in agriculture and home to numerous produce markets, greenhouses and family farms. Next door in Martinsburg is the Morrisons Cove Memorial Park, which has an outdoor pool, roller skating rink, bowling alley and outdoor playgrounds. Also nearby is the historic Spring Dam, or the "roaring spring", which is a conduit for nature's best and most abundant spring waters. This beautiful setting, along with a newly restored 1942 PRR N5C caboose and Blair County’s only remaining train station, creates a welcoming atmosphere for community celebrations and special events throughout the year.
