Each patient's family is asked to designate one or two family members to serve as the primary contact person for updates. The family contact person can then relay information to other family and friends, allowing staff time to focus on care for the patient.
Update Calls
To allow staff adequate time for communicating patient care updates during shift changes, contact persons are asked to refrain from calling the units between the hours of 6:30 - 8 am and 6:30 - 8 pm.
