iConemaugh Memorial Medical Center's Palliative Care Inpatient Unit provides relief to patients suffering from pain, symptoms, and stress associated with serious illness. With assistance of pain and symptom control, patients can maintain strength and quality of life throughout the illness including but not limited to heart disease, lung ailments, Alzheimer's Disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease), and multiple sclerosis. Palliative Care is available at any time during an illness and is often provided while patients are receiving curative treatments.
Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center's Palliative Care Unit includes private rooms decorated in calming colors and equipped with sleeper sofa beds for family members who wish to stay with loved ones. Additional amenities are provided for the patient and family to create a calming and relaxing environment for comfort and healing.
Conemaugh's team of physicians, certified registered nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, dietitians, home health professionals, and spiritual care staff provide relief to patients suffering from pain and debilitating medical symptoms.

Palliative care is available to patients at any time during illness while admitted as an inpatient to the hospital. Hospice care is meant for patients in the final months of life. Unlike hospice, palliative care can be received at the same time as curative treatments.
