What attracted you to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center? Conemaugh's EM Residency is known the world over. I was attracted to it for many reasons. Some of them being the great training and residents. The main reason though was Dr. Galuska. I was following him on Twitter since 2017 and over the years, he was instrumental in developing my passion for EM. When I got the opportunity to work under him, I decided to shoot my shot.
Personal Goals: I'm passionate about contributing to the advancement of emergency medicine on a global scale. Recognizing the nascent stage of this field in many countries, I see a unique opportunity to leverage my combined expertise. My experience and training in India, coupled with the valuable knowledge gained at Conemaugh, position me to effectively develop emergency medical capabilities in these regions. My ultimate goal is to contribute to a world where all communities have access to a high standard of emergency care.
Craziest / Best / Worst Job: My most unforgettable and craziest professional experiences includes serving s a rescue diver and disaster medical officer during the 2018 Kerala floods in India. Additionally, being chosen as one of the first COVID medical officers during the pandemic's initial wave in 2020 stands out as a defining moment in my career. My best job is a tie between my residency training in EM in India and the summer I spend in high-school teaching swimming to children of determination. My worst job so far would be when I was asked to be a math tutor in college. I quickly found out math was not my forte but I did find a passion for teaching which I carried forward many years.
Interesting fact: If you turn a shark on its back by touching it's nose. It won't move at all. Found that out on a dive off the coast of Oman a few years ago.
