Spine Surgery
Conemaugh Health System provides the region's most complete, state-of-the-art and compassionate spine care. We care for patients with conditions of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine due to degeneration, trauma, deformity, infection or cancer.
Whenever possible, our team provides non-surgical treatment options including alternative therapies, bracing, injections, medical pain management and physical therapy. When necessary, we offer a a full-spectrum of minimally invasive and traditional surgical options.
Skull Base Surgery
Skull base surgery uses specialized techniques that give Conemaugh Health System physicians access to deep-seated, difficult-to-reach lesions in the brain with minimal disruption or manipulation of the organ. As a result, tumors, aneurysms, hemorrhages, and other conditions that can be difficult to treat and are at times considered inoperable can be treated with greater precision and safety.
Skull based surgery is typically performed to help treat:
- Tumors in and around the head and neck
- Vascular lesions, such as aneurysms or arterial venous malformation (AVM)
- Birth-related conditions, such as head or facial malformations
- Trauma-related conditions, such as skull base fractures or spinal injuries
Cervical Disc Surgery
The cervical spine has discs between each bone that provide cushioning for movements and body loads. The discs and bones in a healthy neck allow bending from side-to-side and front-to-back, and turning left-to-right. Disc problems can start from over-use, an accident, or just the wear and tear of daily life. Degenerative changes in the discs may result in damage that can cause pain.
Patients at Conemaugh Health System have access to a surgical option for cervical disc replacement utilizing a novel medical device approved by the FDA.
