Crichton Rehabilitation Center Celebrates 25th Anniversary
July 12, 2021
Conemaugh Health System executives and community leaders gathered at Crichton Rehabilitation Center to celebrate the facility’s 25th year providing care to patients in Johnstown. Officials participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil the facility’s newly renovated private rooms, made possible by Duke LifePoint Healthcare’s ongoing investment in the local community. The renovations allow patients to enjoy many of the comforts of home throughout their rehabilitation including in-room dining, private bathrooms, desks, couches, lounge chairs, and television, and ample space to visit comfortably with family members.
“For 25 years, the Crichton Rehabilitation Center has served the residents of Johnstown and the surrounding region with high-quality inpatient rehabilitation care in our community,” said William E. Caldwell, Market President, Conemaugh Health System. “This investment is just one part of our ongoing commitment to Johnstown’s future.”
At the celebration, local business owner David Crichton reflected on his father’s role in establishing the facility in July of 1996. A respected community and business leader, John Crichton dedicated more than 40 years of his life to the Conemaugh Health System.
“My father would be so proud to see how the Crichton Rehabilitation Center has grown over the quarter century since its founding,” said Crichton. “As a former patient here myself, I know firsthand that inpatient rehabilitation is a critical component of a patient’s journey to recovery, and we are fortunate to have resources to guide that journey right here in Johnstown. I am so thankful to the staff and providers for their compassion and dedication, not only to my recovery, but to living my father’s vision each day.”
For 25 years, Crichton Rehabilitation Center has delivered life-changing care to more than 13,000 patients in Johnstown. The center provides all-inclusive rehabilitation services designed to help patients return to an active lifestyle. Crichton’s healthcare providers deliver a full continuum of care to patients suffering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, neurological conditions, trauma, arthritic injury, orthopedic injury, or other conditions. In addition to the on-site team of physical, occupational, and speech therapists and rehabilitation nurses, Crichton works closely within the Conemaugh Health System to provide in-house vascular, orthopedic, and psychiatric care to patients. Located at Conemaugh’s Lee Campus on Main Street, Crichton employs more than 60 healthcare professionals and treats more than 500 patients in Downtown Johnstown annually.
