Prenatal Loss
Conemaugh Health System's staff offers support to mothers, fathers, and families who have experienced a loss during pregnancy, or loss of infant after birth.
Support is offered during the grieving process with frequent follow-up the weeks and months after loss.
Cuddle Cot
Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center's Maternity Department received a Cuddle CotTM for parents who experience the loss of a child, including infant loss. The Cuddle CotTM is a system that cools the child and decreases the rate of natural changes that occur in death, allowing parents and family members the opportunity to spend more time with their baby.
Conemaugh Memorial received the generous donation from patient Ashley Lepley who experienced the loss of a child in June 2015. "I was 35 weeks pregnant and didn't feel any movement," says Lepley. "We came to the hospital and found out that we lost her. The Cuddle Cot would have given us more time with Sophia, so I'm hoping it can help another mother going through a loss." Ashley and her husband, Brad, established the Sophia's Grace Foundation in honor of their daughter. Various fundraising activities to purchase the Cuddle CotTM have been hosted included a Light for Love 5K walk in October 2015.
The Lucas Foundation
The Lucas Foundation helps with the costs associated with an infant death. Support services are also available.
