Conemaugh Health System interventional radiologists use image guidance and small catheters to diagnose and treat a multitude of medical and surgical conditions. They perform several procedures that can support chemotherapy or radiation treatments, typically with very few side effects.

Radiology Services

Vertebroplasty and Kyphoplasty, which provides long-term pain relief from compression fractures due to bone cancer or osteoporosis
Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) for liver, kidney, lung and breast tumors; RFA is used for primary and metastatic tumors and is designed to kill tumor cells while sparing healthy tissue
Chemoembolization for liver cancer, which delivers high-dose chemotherapy agents directly to the diseased liver while blocking the blood supply to the tumor allowing for a quicker recovery
Dialysis access ports

Angiography, drainages, biopsies, image assisted line placement including PICC lines, dialysis catheters and chest port insertion, uterine artery embolization, pain injections including vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty; oncologic interventions including microwave ablation of bone, liver, lung, and kidney lesions; chemoembolization and Y90 radioembolization of liver cancers.
