Conemaugh Health System hosts 25th annual Cardiovascular Symposium
February 12, 2025

Conemaugh Health System hosted its annual Cardiovascular Symposium on Friday at the Frank J. Pasquerilla Conference Center, bringing together cardiovascular professionals from across the state to discuss the latest advancements in heart health.
Now in its 25th year, the symposium provided more than 230 attendees with opportunities to hear expert lectures, explore exhibitor booths, and learn about new developments in cardiovascular care. Presentations covered topics such as emerging screening tools, prevention strategies, and innovative interventions to improve patient outcomes.
A key focus of the event was educating both medical professionals and the community on the importance of "knowing your numbers"—including cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and heart rate variations.
“There are risk factors we can change, like diet and exercise, and others—such as age and genetics—that we cannot,” said Pam Watt, Market Director of Cardiovascular Services at Conemaugh Health System. “If people take time this month to learn more about their cardiovascular risk, it can make a real difference in their heart health.”
The symposium aligns with American Heart Month, observed every February to raise awareness of heart disease prevention and the importance of monitoring vital health indicators. The event also welcomed retired healthcare professionals, who continue to educate and advocate for heart health in the community.
“These professionals play a vital role in spreading awareness,” Watt added. “Bringing this knowledge directly to our community helps ensure more people have access to life-saving information.”
