1.8.2021 COVID-19 Update from Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center
January 8, 2021
As of 1.8.2021:
Currently, Memorial is treating more than 30 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 in our hospital. While this is a decrease from our last update, this number is very fluid and can increase rapidly.
As reported by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, cases of COVID-19 have increased in Cambria County over the past few days.
Conemaugh Health System continues to administer COVID-19 vaccines, and we are distributing them in accordance with prioritization guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the federal government and our state. To date, we have administered nearly 1,500 doses at Memorial. Our clinicians have been very appreciative to receive the vaccine.
We are working to develop a process for offering vaccine in the near future to non-hospital affiliated Healthcare Workers. We will update the community as this becomes available.
And once the vaccine becomes more broadly available, we strongly encourage our community to get vaccinated.
Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center reminds the public to do their part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by wearing a mask or face covering in public, in addition to practicing social distancing and proper hand hygiene.
Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center continues to take all the necessary precautions to protect our patients and staff from COVID-19, including limiting entry points to the facility, screening all individuals for symptoms of COVID-19, universal masking and maintaining a strict zero-visitation protocol.

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center wants to remind members of the community about best practices for overall health and wellbeing during the pandemic, so we are sharing these recommendations.
Staying on Top of Your Health
Taking charge of your own health is essential to your overall well-being. Establishing a good, trusting relationship with a primary care provider and scheduling annual physical exams can play a big role in helping you to do this. Annual exams can help prevent unwanted health surprises and setbacks, aid in early diagnosis of any conditions to help achieve the best outcomes and allow you to discuss any health concerns you have comfortably and confidentially. Your primary care provider can also ensure that you’re on top of key health numbers like your blood pressure and cholesterol, keep you up to date on any needed immunizations and help you manage any chronic conditions you may have.
