1.15.2021 COVID-19 Update from Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center
January 15, 2020
As of 1.15.2021:
Currently, Memorial is treating less than 30 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 in our hospital. While this is a decrease from our last update, this number is very fluid and can change rapidly.
We are in the process of distributing COVID-19 vaccines in accordance with prioritization guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the federal government and our state. We are currently in Phase 1A of vaccination, so we are vaccinating Hospital Staff, Home Health Professionals, Pharmacy, and Emergency Medical Services personnel. If you fall into the 1A Tier, you can register for the vaccine at Conemaugh.org.
We have administered over 1,500 vaccines to date, and we began the second round doses on Friday, January 8. Memorial is pleased to be taking this next exciting step toward ending the pandemic and advancing our mission of Making Communities Healthier.
Once the vaccine becomes more broadly available, we strongly encourage our community to get vaccinated.
Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center reminds the public to do their part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by wearing a mask or face covering in public, in addition to practicing social distancing and proper hand hygiene.
Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center continues to take all the necessary precautions to protect our patients and staff from COVID-19, including limiting entry points to the facility, screening all individuals for symptoms of COVID-19, universal masking and maintaining a strict zero-visitation protocol.
For additional information about the hospital’s preparation and response to COVID-19, visit Conemaugh.org.
Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center wants to remind members of the community about best practices for overall health and wellbeing during the pandemic, so we are sharing these recommendations.
Keeping your appointments
Conemaugh Health System is committed to providing care to our communities and we implore our patients: do not delay emergency care. It is important that you follow your doctor’s recommendations for your plan of care. Do not delay in seeking treatment, having recommended tests or a procedure performed. Prior to procedures, patients are required to have a COVID test. Conemaugh’s Central Scheduling will contact you to schedule your test. If you decide to not have the procedure, please notify your physician immediately. We ask that you give as much notice of the cancellation as possible so that another patient may be given the option for that time slot.
