Enhanced Supportive Care Clinic
Conemaugh Cancer Care Center launched the Enhanced Supportive Care Clinic (ESCC) as part of their survivorship initiative, a program launched in 2021 to meet the ongoing needs of all cancer survivors in the region. Offering an integrated approach to care, the ESCC is staffed with a team on oncology and cancer care professionals. The ESCC is supported by Palliative Nurse Navigator, Briana Bishop, RN, and oncology social worker, Jamie Mack, LCSW, to provide clinical coordination and connect patients and their families with helpful resources needed.
The ESCC comprises two distinct programs, each dedicated to a specific area of patient care: The Survivorship Program and the Palliative Care Program.
Under the direction of Amy Riley, MSN, CRNP, the Survivorship Program will focus on addressing the physical and psychological healthcare of cancer patients, particularly those who have completed cancer treatment. With more than 25 years of oncology experience, Amy leads the program and aims to provide individualized care related to prevention, surveillance, intervention, and coordination for life after cancer.
The Palliative Care Program, under the direction of board-certified, fellowship-trained palliative care physician Monika Kusuma Pringle, MD, will focus on providing symptom management, symptom relief, and support to enhance patients' quality of life. The program will support patients with long-term illness, help manage physical and psychological challenges and offer education about treatment options. The Palliative Care Program is not just for patients of the Cancer Care Center, but all who may need end-stage care and support.
Located in the Good Samaritan Building at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, the Enhanced Supportive Care Clinic also offers support groups and survivorship events for current and former patients and their families including chair yoga, art and music workshops, physical activities and more.
