Visitor Guidelines & Screening Process

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center 

Effective February 28, 2022, visitor restrictions are eased across the Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center facility including:

  • Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center
  • Conemaugh Outpatient Centers
  • Conemaugh Physician Group Offices

All areas will return to pre-pandemic visitor guidelines.

In accordance with Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Pennsylvania Department of Health regulations, all patients and visitors are required to wear a mask in healthcare settings. Conemaugh Health System requests that patients and visitors (ages 2 and older) wear medical-grade masks instead of cloth masks, gaiters, or bandanas.

Visitors should refrain from visiting for the safety of patients and staff if they have a temperature of 100.4 or above, have tested positive for COVID-19, have symptoms of COVID-19, have had close contact with someone with COVID-19, or have been advised to quarantine and have not met criteria for return to healthcare facilities.

COVID-19 Visitation

  • Two visitors are permitted in a suspected or positive COVID-19 patient’s room.
  • Visitors must wear complete personal protective equipment (PPE) including a gown, mask with face shield, and gloves that the facility provides.
  • The patient’s care team will provide visitors with education on applying and removing PPE. 
  • PPE will be applied before entering the patient’s room and removed immediately after the visit.
  • Visitors are asked not to eat, drink, or otherwise remove PPE in the patient’s room.
  • At the conclusion of the visit, visitors should exit the hospital directly and maintain wearing a mask.

​Visitation may be restricted related to community and/or state outbreaks of communicable diseases as appropriate (influenza, COVID-19, etc.) or for patient treatments as indicated by treatment type, exposure to blood and body fluids, and location of treatment (patient bedside versus operating or treatment room). State mandated restrictions will override facility policy for visitation.


Conemaugh Miners Medical Center 

Visiting hours will be 9 AM – 7 PM daily.

  • Two visitors per day for Med/Surg patients (that are not COVID positive/PUI)
  • One support person for adult outpatients, up to two for pediatric outpatients
  • One support person for adult Emergency Room patients, up to two for pediatric Emergency Room patients
  • No one under the age of 16 is permitted to be a visitor at this time
  • Patients and visitors (ages 2 and older) are encouraged to wear medical-grade masks instead of cloth masks at facilities across the health system. 

Patients that are COVID positive or persons under investigation for COVID are not permitted to have visitors.  


Conemaugh Nason Medical Center

Effective March 1, 2022, Conemaugh Nason Medical Center has adjusted its visitation policy as follows:

  • Medical and Surgical: 6 am - 8 pm; Children under the age of 12 are limited to 15 minutes of visitation and must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Obstetrics: 9 am - 8 pm; Children are permitted to visit but must be supervised by an adult other than the patient. No more than two visitors in the mother's room at a time. Visitors must ring buzzer to request access to the Special Delivery Unit, and will be granted access by staff. 
  • Intensive Care Unit: 9 am - 8 pm; limit two visitors at a time. Children under the age of 12 are limited to 15 minutes of visitation and must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Emergency Department: One person may accompany the patient into the Emergency Department; up to two for pediatric Emergency Room patients. Visitor may be asked to leave during examination times or during treatment based on patient needs.
  • Ambulatory Appointments (Radiology, Laboratory, Same Day Surgery): One support person is permitted to accompany patients.
  • COVID positive or suspected COVID patients: visitors are as permitted by the patient’s medical team and required to wear complete personal protective equipment (PPE) during visit.

All visitors will screen upon entry and patients and visitors (ages 2 and older) are encouraged to wear medical-grade masks instead of cloth masks while in the facility. Visitors with a positive screen will be asked to leave. Visitors must remain in the patient’s room for the duration of the visit, and social distancing will continue to be practiced. Patients are encouraged to use alternative methods of communication, including FaceTime or Zoom, as much as possible. Devices are available for patient use at the hospital upon request. 


Conemaugh Meyersdale Medical Center

Visiting hours will be 12 PM – 8 PM daily

  • Effective February 28, 2022, visitor restrictions are eased at Conemaugh Meyersdale Medical Center.
  • All areas will return to pre-pandemic visitor guidelines.
  • Medsurg patients may have visitors between the hours of 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
  • No visitors are permitted under the age of 12.
  • All visitors must check in at the nurses’ station for screening and any necessary instruction prior to visitation.
  • COVID-19 positive patients may welcome up to two (2) visitors in their room at the same time.
  • In accordance with Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Pennsylvania Department of Health regulations, all patients and visitors are required to wear a mask in healthcare settings.
  • Visitors should refrain from visiting for the safety of patients and staff if they have a temperature of 100.4 or above, have tested positive for COVID-19, have symptoms of COVID-19, have had close contact with someone with COVID-19, or have been advised to quarantine and have not met criteria for return to healthcare facilities.
  • Conemaugh Meyersdale Medical Center requests that patients (ages 2 and older) and visitors wear medical-grade masks instead of cloth masks, gaiters, or bandanas.
  • All visitors will be screened upon entry and are required to wear a mask.
  • Visitors who screen positive at entry will be asked to reschedule their visit until they are symptom-free.
